The Custodian - New Label

The English band The Custodian just signed with The Laser's Edge label and will released their first time, for the first time in CD, Necessary Wasted Time (2013) on June 18.

The band is lead by British musician Richard Thomson, better known as the vocalist of progressive metal group Xerath.

Thomson commented on the band's signing to The Laser's Edge: "We are extremely proud to be joining The Laser's Edge family. Not only is their roster exceptional but working with Ken and the team has been a superb experience for us. They take huge pride in what they do and more importantly the enthusiasm they have for the development of their bands is fantastic. We look forward to making some great music with them and bringing it out on the road as soon as possible!"

The Laser's Edge label head Ken Golden explained how the signing of The Custodian came about: "An unexpected e-mail from a mysterious band named The Custodian caught my attention. I started to listen to their debut album, 'Necessary Wasted Time'... and I kept listening... and listening. In short, I became addicted. Rich Thomson and crew are creating the type of forward thinking music that helps define the fabric of The Laser's Edge. I'm very excited to present The Custodian to a worldwide audience."

Necessary Wasted Time (2013) was recorded by the band in their home studio, mixed by Danish producer Jacob Hansen and mastered by Bob Katz. The artwork was created by British artist Colin Marks of Rain Song Design.

The Custodian is formed by Richard Thomson (drums, vocals and synths), Michael Pitman (bass and vocals), Owain Williams (guitars) and Nariman Poushin (electro acoustic guitar).

Leprous - New Song + New Album + Tour Dates
Norwegian Proggers Leprous are getting ready to release their new album Coal (2013) on May 20th, 2013 in Europe and May 28th, 2013 in North America via InsideOutMusic.

Leprous singer and synth-player Einar Solberg comments about the song as follows:
"We're delighted to finally be able to give you the first taste of our upcoming album "Coal"! "Coal" is a melancholic, soulful and very dynamic album. Where Bilateral (2011) was playful and "in-your face", Coal (2013) is subtle and floating. "Chronic" however, is of the more dynamic songs of the album. With a heavy basis, the song pinches a nerve Leprous has never before explored."

In order to give a first sneak-preview of this intriguing and challenging release, the band have now launched a first new song called 'Chronic' today and you can stream it exclusively below:

Coal (2013) was produced with Heidi Solberg Tveitan & Vegard Tveitan of Mnemosyne and Jens Bogren & Tony Lindgren at Fascination Street Studios (Opeth, Symphony X, Kreator) mixed/mastered the album. More details about the album will be revealed soon.

Leprous will be also performing at various prominent summer festivals (Wacken, Hellfest, Tuska, etc.) to promote the release of Coal (2013) and are now also announcing European shows as headlining act from September to November 2013.

Ashent - Re-release

Following on from the recent success of Inheritance (2012) the latest release from Italian progressive metal outfit Ashent, Lion Music will reissue one of the band's album long out of print, the Ashent debut album Flaws Of Elation (2006). In addition this new print comes with all new artwork and the additional bonus of the bands very first ultra rare 2003 4 track demo!

Flaws Of Elation (2006) is a prog-power experience with some modern techno-thrash influences which are reflected in the way Ashent arrange and play guitars and drums. There are also some death metal references, in the mode the band use growling as backing vocals that have their importance in the economy of Ashent’s sound, wisely mixed with a modern prog attitude that uses avant-garde and gothic elements in order to create intense and dramatic music. The atmosphere is very dark, but the vocals of American vocalist Steve Braun are extremely melodic, supported by some beautiful orchestrations.

A video presentation with music and interview from the band can be viewed now below:

Tracklist:
1. Flaws Of Men
