Cristiano Roversi
The worldwide progressive rock community is buzzing with excitement about the third CD release by Italian musician, composer, keyboardist, bass and Champan stick player Cristiano Roversi titled 'AntiQua', featuring guest appearances by Le Orme's Aldo Tagliapietra and PFM's Bernardo Lanzetti, among others! Founding member of the new progressive band Moongarden in 1994, very much a vital entity to this day, Cristiano over the years has explored a variety of musical genres in collaborative projects such as Submarine Silence, Cavalli Cocchi, Lanzetti & Roversi, as well as numerous solo projects, soundtracks and session/production/teaching work. Currently writing and playing keyboards for Mangala Vallis and producing Catafalchi Del Cyber, Cristiano has, in recent years, collaborated with many well known and respected names such as Bernardo Lanzetti, Aldo Tagliapietra, John Wetton, Steve Hackett, David Jackson, Massimo Zamboni, Flaco Biondini, Tryptic, Zef Noise & Mike Ill (ex-Sweet Lizard Illtet), Silvia Orlandi, Angela Baraldi, Leonora, Roberto Tiranti and many others... Now, much to the anticipation of his fans and the music public at large, Cristiano has released a pioneering new album that takes the listener to uncharted sonic landscapes!

Says Cristiano, “I had wanted to dedicate myself completely to a solo album for some time now, totally free to go where I might, independent of market or stylistic pressures. A proverbial flight of fancy as it were. An album in which I could let my influences shine through without having to prove anything to anyone and one in which I didn't have to crank up the volume. AntiQua is a strange land where time flows at a more natural pace – I don't really know if it's on our planet, or even if it exists in the past, present or future, near or far... AntiQua manifests when we need it, every time we give in to dreams and forget about the daily grind. It is a goblet of wine in a candlelight tavern. It certainly did me a world of good, a brief trip to a land governed by antique ideals of beauty and harmony. I hope it may accompany the quietest and sweetest moments of your existence as it has mine.”

Cristiano's musical influences run far and wide: “Anthony Phillips, my master and above all a friend of mine, has taught me a lot about harmony and melody. But I am also influenced by Ennio Morricone, John Williams, Lyle Mays, Steve Hackett and obviously all the English classic prog of the 1970's”

Along with grand piano, synths, Mellotron and Hammond Organ, Cristiano plays 12-string, classical and electric guitar, among other instruments, on his new album. Along with Aldo Tagliapietra and Bernardo Lanzetti, the CD also boasts guest appearances by David Cremoni, Erik Montanari, Fabio Serra, Gigi Cavalli Cocchi, James Larcombe, Leonora and Mirko Tagliasacchi. Says Cristiano, “The enthusiasm of Bernardo Lanzetti! Like a child lost in toys when they hand him the music that I wrote in my room! And the furious quarrels due to precisely this enthusiasm that sometimes maybe I could not handle all of the energy that this great artist emanated from his ideas and visions. A great achievement writing for him. The peace and serenity that I got from Aldo Tagliapietra and his beautiful daughter Gloria. To see and hear Aldo singing your own song at home is like having the history in your hands that you model your own work of art and makes it grow to the point of becoming a masterpiece.”

In closing Cristiano has this to impart to his fans and listeners, “Approach this album without any anxiety, and desire to find deep researches in sounds electronics or modern crossover influences. 'AntiQua' is a tribute to the music and artists I love without any fear to sound or appear retro – so relax and enjoy it!”

Sidony Box
Much to the anticipation of music aficionados around the world, French avant garde music troupe Sidony Box have released their third album 'Sidony Box Rules'. Award-winner of the “Rezzo Jazz a Vienne 2010” showcase and selected for the AFIJMA's “Jazz Migration 2011” tour, Sidony Box has earned its scenic reoutation through Europe and already released two albums acclaimed by international press. Sidony Box is back on stage with a luminous and heavenly third album recorded by Venux Deluxe, well known for his work with legends such as Magma and Gong, taking the sound of the ensemble to a new plateau in sonic expression. This album installs the power jazz trio in the tradition of its illustrious elders, while keeping the devastating energy that made the initial force of the band. Free electrons spinning in the same direction... Exploring musical boundaries with remarkable consistency by creating an imaginary artistic landscape, Sidony Box is now writing a new page of its history, becoming impossible to miss from now on!

The best way to present the music of this trio is probably to emphasize the state of mind in which it arose as well as its aspirations. Urgency and obviousness first characterize Sidony Box, which was created at the beginning of the summer 2009, not as a conceived project but more a happy consequence of an unpremeditated encounter. While the three musicians play for the first time together, a genuine sound and the will of a common musical direction intrude naturally. Far from the classically well-ordered styles, each individual of this band brings in its own musical identity to design rapidly a unique repertoire inspired by the contemporary world, blending with ease separate musical universes. From then on, extemporaneous feelings and a savant mixture of influences are expressed in the name of spontaneity. While guitarist Manuel Adnot's reference artists are numerous and eclectic such as Deftones, Happy Apple, Sigur Ros or Radiohead; drummer Arthur Narcy is an ardent trance and “working sound” devotee, and alto sax player Elie Dalibert is more anchored in the jazz tradition yet naturally open to all sound cultures. De facto present here and there, pop accents, metal, or noise are always underlain by an improvised speech which is the foundation of their pieces. Their only motto is to play totally. All in all the credo of the trio is to play the music of the moment rather than to lock itself in a definitive style. The pieces are most often collectively woven from a written pattern to a band composition in which three individualities blend to a unanimous speech, to the sound of the band.
Says guitarist Manu Adnot, “Our new release 'Sidony Box Rules' is the result of all our work since the band's birth in 2009. All music styles are played at their paroxysm: free jazz music, pop song. hardcore, electronics, post-rock... This is what we wanted when we started together; playing very different styles with only a trio formation, without bass. We looked also in a new way of thinking for us with more completely free improvisations; this time we really have left the things coming out naturally, and we took time to play again and again for getting out the best energy. This album is the results of all that; free way of thinking, free way of playing music, and a lot of pure emotion. Hope it will touch you too.”

Here's what the press raved about Sidony Box's previous releases:

“Their music, which blends shoegaze and modern prog-rock with jazz improvisation, feels expansive... With droning guitar and undulating waves of rhythm, the music is textured and layered, so much so that it sounds like a few more than three musicians...the trio draws on the aesthetics of certain rock bands – Radiohead, Tortoise, and Sonic Youth, in particular – as it constructs songs” - Boston Globe

“Sidony Box boasts a style that melds jazz, pop and hard, in-your-face rock, bursting with urgency – a blazing and obstreperous crew. Even when the band drifts, it does so with a certain intensity, conjuring images of a waning star emitting a cold, radiant electronic wave, on a drift through deep space, and announcing that Sidony Box is a conglomerate with an oddly metallic synchronicity.” - All About Jazz

“By the time this complex and challenging ride is over, musical categories lay in pieces on the ground.” - Something Else Reviews

“This French power trio dishes up a very satisfying blend of avant-jazz, prog-tinged rock, and free-ish improvisation, with wonderful dynamics, brilliant instrumental interplay, lovely melodies, and highly engaging guitar work by Adnot.” - Guitar Player

Gordon Giltrap & Oliver Wakeman
4th March 2013 will see guitar legend Gordon Giltrap and keyboardist Oliver Wakeman (following his years of touring with the classic progressive rock band YES) release their debut collaborative album 'Ravens & Lullabies' on the Esoteric Antenna label.

The album is a 13 song collection of hard hitting memorable rock pieces coupled with thought provoking lyrics alongside acoustic duets featuring their fine instrumental interplay.

The project was initiated with a phone call from Gordon to Oliver in early 2012 requesting Oliver's keyboard services for a new rock album. Within 24 hours Gordon had phoned again suggesting a full collaboration instead and the 'Ravens & Lullabies' concept was born.

Gordon and Oliver spent 2012 writing and recording the album which features a return for Gordon to his rock roots following a 30 year absence and Oliver's first recorded works since his departure from both Yes and Strawbs.

It has been recorded and mixed by 'Threshold' guitarist Karl Groom (who also mixed the Yes 'Live In Lyon' record which featured Oliver on keyboards).

The album will be available in two formats, a single CD featuring 13 new pieces and double pack special edition featuring a Bonus CD of live recordings taken from their 2012 tour and re-recordings of pieces from Oliver and Gordon's past catalogue.

The new album features performances by the following well respected musicians.
Paul Manzi - vocals, Steve Amadeo - Bass Guitar, Johanne James - Drums

The album also features a special vocal appearance by Benoit David, Oliver's old band mate from Yes, on the track 'From the Turn of a Card' written by Oliver during the Yes recording sessions of 2010.

Many of the pieces were debuted and refined during their acoustic duo tour in September and October 2012 where they performed sell out concerts across the UK. The tour will resume in March 2013 to coincide with the release of the new album.
One of the most innovative acoustic guitarists in the UK today, Gordon Giltrap has developed his own unique style, much copied, but never bettered. It is impossible not to be awestruck as he coaxes incredible melodies from his instruments; you almost suspect a second pair of hands. He is well known for his varied musical output and 'Heartsong' (a hit single from the album 'Perilous Journey' in 1977) is instantly recognized as the theme for the BBC TV's long running 'Holiday' programme.

Following ten solo albums in a variety of styles, Oliver Wakeman joined the legendary band 'YES' in 2008, touring with them up until mid-2011. A live CD and triple vinyl release, 'In The Present - Live from Lyon', was a fitting bookend to his period in the band. He also worked with the folk rock band 'The Strawbs' and appeared on their last studio album as well as their 40th Anniversary CD release. Appearing in venues across North and South America, Europe and the UK with YES, Strawbs and as a solo artist, he has become a well respected live performing musician to add to his other talents as composer, songwriter, lyricist and producer.

Gordon says "Working with Oliver is like a breath of fresh air. I knew of his reputation as a fine musician, and it made perfect sense for me to tap into his creative energy, not only to bring out certain elements of my musical gifts but to create something new and exciting, at the same time giving a nod in the direction of our respective Progressive Rock roots"

Oliver adds, "After working with YES, the chance of working with another legendary artist was an opportunity too good to miss. I am having a wonderfully productive time working with Gordon and feel we are creating something genuinely unique in our 'Ravens & Lullabies' project."

Many of Gordon's fans have been asking for years when he is going to return to his rock roots and others wondered what Oliver would write after the Yes experiences...

There will be two different releases of the album. A standard single CD with the following 13 tracks
1. Moneyfacturing
2. Fiona's Smile
3. From the Turn of a Card
4. LJW
5. Maybe Tomorrow

8. A Mayfair Kiss

10. A Perfect Day
